She woke up wrapped around his arms but struggled not to move. Instead she laid transfixed, and watched his slow, steady breathing and his little mumbles and felt his warm breath on her skin.
His little mumbles became louder, became clearer. She noticed this, and tried to figure out the words coming out from his mouth.
A name. He whispered a name, but it was not hers.
Then there was this pain in her chest, something she knew all too well. Something she was afraid of ever happening again, the reason why she has put up all these walls to protect her. But he broke these walls and received her trust, but now it’s all gone. And she doesn’t even have the strength to get mad at him because he meant just that much.
A tear fell from the brim of her eyes. She slowly released herself from his arms, and stood up, trying to keep the tears from falling. She would not make a fuss out of things, because she knew it was her fault for letting him in. Instead, she would just quietly fade away from his life and disappear.
She looked back for the last time and slowly crept away in the darkness and left.
